Eligibility:
• Open to all students in local schools (grades 8 to 12) (ISD, Private, Charter and or Homeschool student
Theme
• The theme is “Patriotic- 4th of July Rodeo.” Entries should reflect the spirit of independence, rodeo culture, and community.
Requirements:
1. Incorporate Logos: Each entry must prominently feature the Rodeo, VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars), and Auxiliary logos. These will be provided to all entries at sign up via email.
2. Size: Posters must be created in a standard poster size (22” x 28”).
3. Medium: Any artistic medium is acceptable (e.g., paint, markers, collage, digital art).
4. Original Work: All artwork must be original and created by the submitting student.
Submission Guidelines:
• Each individual may submit one entry.
• Include the artist’s name, grade, school, and contact information on the back of the poster.
• Submit entries by May 3, 2025 to VFW Post 6441 between. (once you have filled out the form you will be contacted with times for drop off.)
Judging Criteria:
• Creativity and originality (30%)
• Theme representation (30%)
• Artistic quality (20%)
• Effective use of logos (20%)
Prizes:
• Awards will be given for:
1st- $500; chosen as 79th Annual Event Poster,
2nd - $150
3rd - $100
• Winners will be announced on the VFW website and SM platforms, with their artwork chosen to be the official 79th Rodeo Poster, displayed at the 4th of July Rodeo event, SM, website and any other marketing platforms. Judging will take place on April 24th at VFW Post 6441.
Two step judging as follows:
Step 1- Judge panel will be comprised of Post & Aux members along with the local art community. The top 5 winners will go on to Step 2 of judging.
Step 2- Public voting via Facebook. Voting will last one week. The Design with the most likes is the winner and so on.
